It is difficult not to reflect in quarantine. For those of us who have not yet knowingly been infected, with all its restrictions, self-isolation is a time to pause, rest, reconnect with our immediate family and reflect. But reflection in this case is not merely a self-indulgent search for the meaning of life.
Taulant Mehmeti: Jazz Duo 2015
Jazz Duo Taulant Mehmeti on guitar, with Fima Chupakhin keyboard performance at the 2015 Culture Forum. Taulant Mehmeti, Kosovo born Albanian guitarist and a recent graduate from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music is a natural improviser, drawing upon the rich Balkan rhythms and gypsy music he grew up hearing and playing. Along with his deep interest in jazz and Django Reinhardt, Charlie Parker and Wes Montgomery as major influences, his musical sensibility is equally informed by funk, rock, and world music genres. Taulant’s music weaves these bright strands into a shimmering tapestry of his own creation.
