ABOUT

Ana Golja was born on January 31, 1996 in Toronto, Canada and started dancing at the young age of five. Her love for performance got greater as she grew older, and she began acting at the age of nine, landing her first role as Lucy in “1-800 Missing” in her first audition.

Ana went on to play a variety of roles in a number of film and television productions for various networks, and is most recognized for her work in the feature film “Full Out” — an uplifting sports drama that aired on NBC, Family Channel, and is now available on Netflix (worldwide).

Ana’s work in “Full Out” earned her a Canadian Screen Award nomination in 2016. Ana also starred as the fierce and trouble-causing diva “Zoe Rivas” on the Emmy-nominated drama “Degrassi,” airing on TeenNick and Netflix globally.

Most recently, she decided to broaden her horizons by taking on the roles of producer as well as lead actress in “The Cuban”, starring alongside Oscar winner Lou Gossett Jr. and Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The film premiered at a number of film festivals, including the Whistler Film Festival, the Pan African Film Festival, the Sonoma Film Festival, and the Lavazza Inclucity Film Festival presented by ICFF, where Ana was honored with the “Best Female Actress” award. Ana also had the honour of starring alongside Oscar nominee John Travolta and Devon Sawa in the thriller “The Fanatic”.

Ms. Golja has had the privilege of performing on stage as well as in front of the camera, having worked on some of the most prestigious stages with Walter Bobbie in “White Christmas” and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber in “The Sound Of Music” (original Mirvish Toronto cast).

In addition, when Ana is not busy on set or performing on stage, she is working on writing and recording her own music. In February of 2018, Ana released her first album titled “Epilogue”, under her legal name of MUAZANA. She spent most of 2022 and 2023 working on her second album, which will be released later this year.

Despite her busy schedule, Ana makes time to give back to the community. She does volunteer work with various charities, including Free the Children, speaking at numerous We Days across North America. She and the rest of the “Degrassi” cast members travelled to Nicaragua and Ecuador where they helped build schools and water filtration systems.

Ana Golja is Member of the Institute’s Advisory Council.
